Uitenhage is a picturesque town nestled at the foothills of the Winterhoek Mountains in the Eastern Cape, and its official flower is the Strelitzia which grows in abundance in the area. Uitenhage is located about 25km north of Port Elizabeth, the largest city in the Eastern Cape.
 
The Uitenhage Golf Club is an 18-hole course with a practice range, pro shop and function facilities, located on Winterhoek Drive. Directions to the Uitenhage Golf Club is travel from Port Elizabeth on the R75 towards Uitenhage. At Church Street turn right, and carry on straight going out of town and from there the golf club is clearly sign-posted.

Somerset East is a picturesque town located at the foot of the Boschberg Mountains that provide both a forested and mountainous backdrop, with 16 waterfalls within sight of the town. The town is on the Blue Crane Route, which was created to save South Africa’s national bird from extinction.

The Somerset Golf Club is a highly rated 9-hole golf course, said to be one of the most beautiful in the country. Other activities in the area include trout fishing in two of the local dams, and local game farms provide malaria-free safaris.

Shark River Golf Club is a challenging 9-hole course located within the military base at Forest Hill, Port Elizabeth. The club has invested in improving the greens, fairways and course layout, and today it enjoys a reputation as the best value-for-money golf club in Port Elizabeth.

Shark River Golf Club (formerly Eastern Province Command Golf Club) was established in 1948, and was exclusively for Defence Force personnel and consisted of five holes, then, in 1978 the course was opened to the public. The club is situated on the military Base in Forest Hill next to Port Elizabeth Airport.
