Williston town is located about 120km east of Calvinia, and was first called Amandelboom (Almond Tree), when in 1845 Johann Heinrich Lutz established a mission station at this spot. In 1883 the name changed to Williston, in honour of Colonel Hampden Willis.

Victoria West is a small Karoo town, located about 150km to the north of Beaufort West on the N12 highway. The town is wedged in between two mountains and a river and is an excellent stop-over for visitors to the Great Karoo.

The Upington Golf Course is situated in the heart of the Kalahari, near the Desert Palace Hotel & Casino Resort, and about 7km from the CBD of Upington on the N14.
