The Empangeni Country Club was formed in the early 1900′s, and the original 18 hole golf course was laid out and maintained by predominately farmer members. Peter Matkovich was commissioned to inspect and suggest changes to the course in the late 1980′s, and apart from some minor changes, the course itself has remained very similar to the original layout. Water for the course comes mainly from a borehole and storage dam, and is mainly used on the tee boxes and greens, and the fairways have to rely on natural rainfall.
